What It Is
Ayurvedic massage is a centuries-old healing ritual rooted in the Indian tradition of balancing body, mind, and spirit. Using warm herbal oils and intentional, flowing strokes, this modality supports deep nourishment, lymphatic flow, and nervous system regulation.
Abhyanga (the foundational oil massage) works gently yet thoroughly along the body’s energy channels, while Vishesh builds on that foundation with firmer strokes and deeper rhythmic work into muscles and connective tissues. In a 90-minute session, you receive both elements—first the soothing, then the enlivening.
What to Expect
- You’ll lie fully draped until the treatment begins, then be asked to disrobe completely (modest draping will be maintained).
- Warm herbal oils will be applied to the whole body with long, harmonized strokes. In the 90-minute session, deeper work will follow.
- The body is treated in flowing, rhythmic patterns meant to calm and energize simultaneously.
- After the session, you’ll rest briefly as oils absorb, and you’ll be guided on gentle self-care before showering.
Best For
This modality is ideal for those who:
- Crave deeper relaxation beyond standard massage
- Have dry, dull, or stressed skin
- Feel tension held in subtle layers or chronic, low-grade stiffness
- Are seeking holistic, integrative practices rather than purely structural work
Special Instructions & Preparation
- Ayurvedic massage requires full disrobing; modest draping will be used for client comfort.
- Please arrive in loose, comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting oily.
- Plan some extra time post-session before you need to be elsewhere—oils take a moment to absorb.
- Avoid a heavy meal immediately before the session; light hydration is fine.
- If you have sensitive skin or allergies, inform us upon booking so we can choose oil blends accordingly.
Aftercare & Integration
- Allow at least 30 minutes before showering; when you do, use lukewarm water and avoid harsh soaps.
- Stay hydrated—drink warm or room-temperature water to support detox pathways.
- Move gently: light stretching, walking, or restorative yoga helps integrate the effects.
- If balancing or detox symptoms (mild fatigue, improved sensation) emerge, know they often resolve within 24 hours as the body realigns.
